Scripture Focus:
Romans 8:15 (NKJV)“You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
Devotional Teaching:
You are not just forgiven. You are not just redeemed. You are not just saved. You are adopted. God didn’t just rescue you from sin — He brought you into His family. He didn’t just free you from bondage — He gave you His name. He didn’t just clean your record — He claimed you as His own. Adoption is not a second‑class identity. It is the highest expression of God’s love.
In the ancient world, adoption meant:
• full legal rights
• full inheritance
• full family status
• full authority
• full belonging
And once adopted, a child could never be disowned. This is the identity God gives you. You are not tolerated — you are treasured. You are not an outsider — you are brought near. You are not abandoned — you are chosen. You are not fatherless — you have a perfect Father. The Spirit of adoption inside you cries out, “Abba.” Not “Master.” Not “Judge.” Not “Distant God.” Abba — Father, Dad, My Father. This week, let this truth settle deep in your heart: You belong. You are wanted. You are loved. You are family.
Reflection Questions:
1. What experiences in your life have made it hard to see God as a loving Father?
2. How does knowing you are adopted change the way you see yourself?
3. What would it look like to live with the confidence of a beloved son or daughter?
Identity Declarations:
• I am adopted into God’s family.
• God is my Father, and I am His child.
• I belong, I am wanted, and I am loved.
• I have full access, full inheritance, and full identity in Christ.
• I am no longer a slave — I am a son/daughter of God.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family. Help me walk in the confidence of being Your child. Heal every place in my heart that struggles to trust Your love. Let the Spirit of adoption rise in me and remind me daily that I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
